Stanley to the Great Lake in central Tasmania, then onto Strathgordon & finishing up today in Port Huon. The pictographs tell the story.
Waiting for the penguins to come out on our last night in Stanley.
Sunset pic of a rock face, while waiting for the penguins.
Trendy silhouette of 2 cows at sunset, while waiting for the penguins.
Trendy silhouette of 3 cows (which is better than 2 cows ), while waiting for the penguins.
Trendy silhouette of irrigator on the ridge, while waiting for the penguins.
Pretty crappy pic of the full moon rising over the sea at8.50pm. Still no penguins. We went home.
Pano of some rocks beside the road, on the way to the Great Lake.
The Great Lake from the newest dam wall. Ther was alow one in front of the concrete one, built in 1916. Then the concrete one which is higher was built in 1922. Finally the one we are on, which is a lot higher was built in 1982. The lake is pretty low, the concrete one should be under water.
As above.
Pano of the quarry for the dam & Yvonnes' 2 identical twin sisters, who came to visit.
Now this is a serious verandah extension.
Grave of John Beaumont. First white man here in the early to mid 1800s.
Great Lake pano.
Walking up to Russel falls, on the way to Strathgordon.

Heading back from the falls.
As above.
There are lots of tall trees.
Some more rocks.
First view of Lake Pedder.
Pano of Lake Pedder.

Gordon dam wall, very thin about 1000ft high & concave on the downstream side. Quite unusual.
As above.
Lake Gordon, getting down quite a long way after a dry summer.
Yvonne heading down onto the dam wall.
On the dam wall.
Over the edge.
Looking down the face, you can see the concavity.
The main street of Deloraine. I bought 2 books from the OP shop here.
Misty morning pano, just out of Strathgordon.
Another shot of Lake Pedder.
Pano, Yvonnes' 2 identical twin sisters have decided to travel with us, here they all are at Teds' beach near Strathgordon.
Lake Pedder in slightly better weather.
Coming into New Norfolk, just outside Hobart.
Across from our hotel tonight. Port Huon marina.
